Coaching for professionals
Practice of States proposes a holistic perspective on the body as material which is simultaneously energetic, physical and emotional. Within this approach the artist suggests an eclectic training comprising elements of improvisation and consciousness techniques for working with the body combined with Eastern methods of cultivating the chi energy (Qi Gong and Pranayama). In practice this translates into exercises stretched over time allowing the body to experience and undergo various states of presence and awareness. Special emphasis is laid on the transformational potential of our bodies and the way we use this in our stage practice. Extended duration, fatigue and weariness serve as auxiliary tactics to discover a new experience of space and to pose questions that are important in the creative process. These regard the transformations of the body, the methods to modulate the surrounding reality (not only in theatre) and the methods and strategies we apply to achieve this.
