“Polska” is based on two phenomena: sympathy and empathy. Using a variety of devices, including dance, performance, music and video, the show, with a subtle sense of humour, leads the spectators to react physically to what they see. Some of them may feel embarrassed whilst others will try to deal with their personal projections and expectations. Most of them will probably think about per-formance and performativity, about achievement and success, as well as failure and trauma. The dancer wears a sprinter costume and her body cannot escape being determined by its cultural nature.

Agata Maszkiewicz is a choreographer, performer and a dancer. In her work she uses different forms creating dance/theatre performances, videos, installations and texts where choreography is used as the main dramaturgical tool. She likes tracing various social patterns and transforming them on stage in a humorous as well as poetic way. The Austrian critic Helmut Ploebst called her a sociocritical choreographer. In October 2009 she graduated Institute of Dance Arts at the Anton Bruckner Privatuniversitaet in Linz, Austria (Master of Arts M.A.). She is a recipient of the danceWEB 2006 scholarship program. From January till June 2007 she continued her education in the Centre Choreoghraphique National (CCN) in Montpellier as a participant of the ex.e.r.ce program (under the guidance of Xavier Le Roy). She works, among others, with the collective Superamas (“You dream”, “BIG3 happy/end”, “Casino”). Ivana Müller (“60 minutes of opportunism”) and creates her own work (installation “snowflakes” or solo “Polska”). She collaborated with Anne Juren, Marianne Baillot and Alix Eynaudi on the piece “Komposition”. Together with Alix Eynaudi, she created a video-performance “The Visitants” and later on, a piece “Long long short long short”. Her last production “Don Kiewicz & Sanczo Waniec” had its premiere in December 2011 in Brut Theatre, Vienna.
