Nothing happens and we report it

towarzystwo gimnastyczne is an artistic collective (and the association) created in 2003, which as a company wishes to avoid all genre generalizations. The artists, naturally, take advantage of widely understood contemporary dance techniques in their work. However, their ultimate aim is to choose such means of expression, that would be most adequate to the presentation of the spectacles' contents. nic is the collective's third premiere, after Whatever You Wish 2003 and Obcojęzyczność 2005. Towarzystwo Gimnastyczne invited independent Polish artists (Janusz Orlik, Agnieszka Noster and Dominika Knapik) to join their project.

The starting point for the creation was the question whether "NOTHING in art is really possible?"... and whether if one tried to create a "spectacle about NOTHING", wouldn't it turn out that, as Leibniz wanted: "in the universe (spectacle?) there is always more something than nothing"?. The spectacle is a poetic manifesto and a fickle apotheosis of the dance itself and the strength of human body as a medium. No matter how much we would like to quench the body, it will always tell stories, from which - no matter how we try - we cannot escape...
