The key to our exploration is listening closely to Baroque and free improvised music, listening to silence and the body. Thinking in terms of Baroque sounds brings us closer to the questions of counterpoint or multiple melody lines of special independence, a concept developed during Renaissance, a common practice during Baroque. We are in particular interested in the invention, a music genre that dates back to the 16th century. It is a short composition that does not have precisely defined categories, with an indefinite construction. How is composition defined, then? What are the factors that bear on its form? Where is the borderline of definition and free interpretation? Are we able to define the limits of spontaneity in this context?
Above the exploration of these questions hovers the spirit of great fun. Baroque music is one great party for each and every moment in life. There is no leader, the number of guests is unlimited as all know how to have a good time and there are reasons aplenty for it. Today we are fascinated by the joy of playing and dancing, a little bit in the galante mode.
We relish in the freedom of ignorance; existence makes us awake arousing desires. We lay the double bass to sleep and listen on.

Bruno Helstroffer (France)
He was studying classical guitar in National Conservatory of Strasburg and played electric guitar and new music. Self-taught of theorbo and early music, he was one of the artists that went far towards re-discovering at the end of last century the Baroque repertory and was perceived as continuiste, performing with French Baroque orchestras (Le Concert Spirituel, Le Poème Harmonique) and with famous chamber music bands (Faenza, Les Musiciens de St Julien, La Barcarole, La Chapelle Rhénane, The Witches). Since 10 years Bruno is engaged in the creation of live performances (with puppet theater, rock and contemporary music and contemporary dance). His solo for theorbo “La Chambre” involving contemporary improvisation, pieces of repertoire and poems, was performed and widely appreciated in France and abroad (Poland, Germany, Denmark). The fusion of different music languages became Bruno’s musical original identity which made him play both with jazzmen (Michel Godard, Matteo Franceschini, David Chevalier, Joël Grare, Steve Swallow) and pop artists (Sapho, Moriarty).
