Het Veem Theater, Amsterdam

I have interviewed men about their masculinity.
I have reexamined my male role models.
I have cut wood in the forest with my brother.

What does it mean for me to be a man today?
What is my relationship with my body?
What kind of dance would make my father proud?

I want to come to terms with the real man in me.
I want to celebrate my masculinity with you.
I need your feedback.

Chris Leuenberger (b. 1979) studied theatre in California and choreography at the School for New Dance Development in Amsterdam. Based in Bern (Switzerland) as a freelance choreographer and performer, he collaborates with different artists in various contexts and formations. His piece “White Horse – an attempt at live therapy” won the ITS Choreography Award 2007 and marked the beginning of an ongoing interest in a therapeutic approach to theatre. Chris is the founding member of White Horse and Sweet&Tender Collaborations (with Lea Martini and Julia Jadkowski) with whom he has created “Trip” (2008), “Romance” (2009), “Trip en masse” (2010), “Groupies” (2011) and “Together” (2011). The shows deal with social phenomena of togetherness as depicted in the mass media.
