Jurij Konjar is Slovenian dancer and choreographer. He studied dance in Brussels school PARTS and received twice danceWEB program scholarship. As a dancer, he worked with many choreographers (Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Roberto Olivan, Maja Delak, Janez Janša, Boris Charmatz); he is presently practicing “Tuning scores” with Lisa Nelson. His own work includes several performances in collaboration with Gabrielle Nankivell (“The Right Mistakes”, “Documentary”, “Open Space Hotel”), trio “Catharsis for Beginners” with Peter Jaško and Milan Herich (2005 Audience Award at Gibanica Slovenian Dance Platform) and solo “Ulysses”. The latest creation, an improvised solo performance “Goldberg Variations” we could see in November 2011 at Stary Browar. The solo was a result of a two year research into the cult 1986 Steve Paxton’s “Goldberg Variations”. Part of the practice was writing – an invention of a vocabulary and a language. A “Chapbook” publication on the process of the piece was published by Contact Quarterly in May 2011.
