"Exercises for a hero" is a solo as the hero is a soloist - an individual standing in front of the mass. This hero wants to win. But as he is human, he is crying. Crying, possibly caused by failing, is the other side of winning.
Crying or the performance of crying treated as a state of being is the basic engagement for the performer in that piece. It is a canvas on which the other events/ scenes are build. I cry almost through the whole piece making it a constant element of it, a specific performativity.
Parallel to crying, through physical engagement I create images which comes from different associations with a hero and his image existing in my head, the one made by popular culture.
Hero goes through the images, in which absolute necessity he believes almost ideologically – like a hero. There is no intension to indicate, explain who is a hero or what this idea is saying, rather to open up the possibility for associations. To make the trip of a hero a shared with the audience.
