Rhythm appears as music when it invests the auditory level, and as painting when it invests the visual level." (Francis Bacon by Gilles Deleuze)

In this workshop I would like to share my current research around music, considering the body as an instrument. In the work we will analize relationships between the auditory and the visual and compare musical terminology with physiological processes, choreographic writing or compositional elements in dance.

The research will be based on a specific body practice that allows for multiple perceptions of ones own body. The explorations are playful and involve direct experience of anatomical body systems. They are based on techniques of touch and movement repatterning, direction of focus, visualization, guided imagery and games. Stimulation or focused touch will help to identify changes in perception, state, internal and external environments.
We will observe relations between this body practice and choreographic writings and concepts that emerge from this practice, we will dance music, make music more audible or write music with our bodies.

The workshop deals with modalities of working and thinking and their effects on (re)presentation.

In Ancient Greece, the orchestra was the space between the auditorium and the proscenium (or stage), in which were stationed the chorus and the instrumentalists. The Greek word for orchestra literally means 'a dancing place'. (Wikipedia)
