The Yanka Rudzka Project: Leavening is an outcome of the 3 weeks residency during which Polish and Brazilian dance artists, inspired by Yanka Rudzka and her artistic stances, joined forces in shared choreographic practice.
Following Yanka’s artistic interest, the starting point for movement research became vocabulary and narratives of oberek and samba - Polish and Brasilian traditional dances. At first glance seeming totally different, when practiced and researched also in ethnographical perspective, they revealed a lot in common and inspired the exciting choreographic journey.
The project favored process over final product, investigating and at the same time celebrating collectivity as well as ecstatic and transformative dimension of dance so often forgotten in contemporary dance practice of today.
//We meet in the practice. And we practice the meeting.
Repeating the gestures, we delve into the presence.
And transform the future.
We’re leavening. //
