for any questions:
For five years, Art Stations Foundation by Grażyna Kulczyk has been providing a unique-in-Poland regular dance programme for the youngest audience (children aged from zero to six years), as part of our Old Brewery New Dance for Children programme. During this time, we have presented some of the most important international dance shows for children, and have created a series of thematic workshops for entire families, in addition to the staging of an installation for infants as young as three months (the only one of its kind) called BABY SPACE. As part of our educational programmes for dance professionals, we have also created two opportunities for young Polish artists to widen their knowledge and acquire skills in the field of creating dance for the youngest audience. The next step in the development of this programme is an opportunity for Polish choreographers to create a dance performance for children, scheduled to be produced in 2016, under the artistic coaching of Serbian choreographer Dalija Aćin Thelander. As a result of this,
Art Stations Foundation by Grażyna Kulczyk has the pleasure of announcing
A PROJECT COMPETITION
for a show for children aged from zero to six years.
The show, which Art Stations Foundation plans to produce in august/September 2016, should feature an innovative approach to choreographic practice in the context of creating for children. It should also propose, on a smaller scale, innovative formats and aesthetical solutions, in addition to a particular focus on interactive events targeted at both children and their parents, and including them in the performance, in compliance with the concept of the Dancing Families programme.
The competition is addressed to young Polish dancers/choreographers who can document their previous choreographic experience. Experience in working with or creating for children is NOT NECESSARY. The project coach does not speak Polish, therefore the candidates must be able to communicate in English.
PLANNED WORK ON THE SHOW IN 2016:
- A weeklong session with the coach from 16 to 24 April 2016
- Production of the show: a maximum of four weeks in late August/early September 2016
- Scheduled premiere: 17/18 September 2016
(The specific dates will be confirmed with the author(s) of the winning project.)
APPLICATIONS, in ENGLISH ONLY, should include:
- A conceptual show proposal (no more than two A4 pages). This should include: a description of the idea and information about the target audience group, any planned collaborators, the planned show format and work methods (if necessary, the proposal can be enhanced with visual materials);
- A professional CV and motivational letter containing information about the candidate’s individual choreographic practice so far.
Applications, with the annotation “KONKURS”, should be submitted to email@example.com. The deadline for submitting applications is 18 September 2015.
The winning project will be selected in two stages:
After becoming familiar with all the applications, Dalija Aćin Thelander, the project coach, and members of Art Stations Foundation will make an initial selection of projects. The authors of the most interesting ones will be invited to an interview with the coach (via Skype, if necessary), which will be held between 12 and 16 October 2015. Based on this interview, the final decision regarding the winner will be made.
