After previous perfomances, “Exérèse monobloc” in 2004 and “and thy neighbour as thyself” created during the first edition of Solo Project in 2006, Janusz Orlik is coming back on stage at Slodownia Studio with his new production “Live on stage”, a show about stage, performance, about artistic choices and all the stuff which an artist is doing to satisfy the audience.

A show about the stage and being an artist on stage. It is about artist’s choices, what is he doing, how he presents and sells himself. About being in the wrong place at the wrong time, about lacking ideas and having too many of them, about audience expectations, about doing too little and creating too much. About a song, a dance, a joke, a mockery and goofing around. About skills and a lack of them. About presentation and going overboard. About performance – seriously, live, on stage.

Janusz Orlik born in 1981, is a graduate of ballet school in Warsaw and was a student of Brucknerkonservatorium Linz (Austria). During his studies he became a founding member of the company x.IDA (Austria) dancing and touring internationally (Austria, Germany, Poland, Canada). Since 2002 Janusz is a member of Vincent Dance Theatre (Sheffield, UK).

Janusz was performing in productions created by Olga Cobos, Peter Mika, Catherine Guérin, Rebekka Murgi, Nicole Caccivio and Charlotte Vincent (UK). He was taking part in workshops with artists including Nigel Charnock, Wim Vandekeybus, Chris Haring, Kirsty Simson, Guy Dartnell, Yossi Berg, Oded Graf.

Since the beginning of his dancing career, Janusz has created his own choreographic pieces, presented at different contests and venues in Poland and abroad. His recent works include “Exérèse monobloc” (Stary Browar, Poznań, 2004), “and thy neighbour as thyself” (Stary Browar, Poznań, 2006). In 2007 he performed in “nothing” with towarzystwo gimnastyczne. In the same year he created “High heels” for Krakov Opera ballet company.

In 2001 Orlik won the 1st price at “Das Podium” competition for choreography (Linz, Austria) for “Monodrama” which was also presented at the “Young Choreographers Debuts” in Gdansk, Poland. In 2006, a student of “School of Ballet and Dance Fouetté” (Poznan, Poland) won the 2nd price at “Jugend Tanzt” (Dortmund, Germany) dancing in Janusz’s choreography “Not perfect”. As well as performing Janusz delivers dance workshops in different venues and dance schools in Poland and abroad.
